Analyse Two Poems From Different Cultures

In this essay, my aim is to analyse two numberss from different cultures and continue on their effect on me. I have read two metrical compositions. The first being, Half-Caste by John Agard, written in 2005, which is the thoughts and feelings of a scuffleed race poet about the term Half-Caste. In this he questions the way society lend oneselfs language and how this has racist connotations. The wake poem studied is, What Were They Like? by Denise Levertov, written in 1971, is original in structure, and written in the style of a lesson, that teaches us, the reader, about Vietnamese culture, the war and the volume of Vietnam. Half-Caste This poem touches on the theme of prejudice, this is reinforced through societys drop of mildly offensive language regarding the use of the term, half-caste. The term comes from India, where raft are rigidly divided into groups, called castes, which are not allowed to shuffle and where the lowest caste is considered to be untoucha ble. Agard pokes fun at the drumhead and does this by suggesting ironically that things are altogether half present, by puns and by looking at the work of artists who mix things. Agard uses jocular sarcasm, excuse me, standing on one leg, Im half-caste and dialect, explain yuself, wha yu hold still for to express his opinion. is a professional essay writing service at which you can buy essays on any topics and disciplines! The way that it is! presented to the reader, is that he feels rattling strongly about this subject, and it suggests that he is not the only psyche who feels this way about the offensive term that is half-caste. This poem uses a fast pace to reflect the passion and irritability that Agard has on this particular subject. This fast pace is created by phrases such as, wha yu mean? and half-a-dream.
